Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by the Should Be Reading blog.
If you fancy joining in, here’s how…
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two teaser sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!
• Share the title and author so other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!
I rarely seem to manage to post more than one of these a month, but I always enjoy doing them, and reading other people’s teasers, so I am going to make it my New Year’s Resolution to try and do this more in 2017!
For today, I have just started Sister of my Heart by Chitra Divakaruni. Set in India, the book is about two cousins who grow up together and are as close as sisters. Here are two sentences from p25…
“Even before I could walk, Pishi has told me, I would crawl down the maze of corridors looking for Sudha, both of us shrieking with baby laughter when I finally found her. We would amuse ourselves for hours at a time, playing with each other’s toes and fingers and hair, and when Aunt N came to take Sudha away we’d throw such tantrums that she’d retreat, complaining bitterly to Pishi that she didn’t know why she had gone through all the trouble of labour and birthing, because it was as though she didn’t have a daughter at all.”
