Here is what I am reading now, then and next!

Now…

I’ve just grabbed my library copy of Angela Carter’s Nights at the Circus from my shelf.  Here’s the blurb…

nights at the circusCourted by the Prince of Wales and painted by Toulouse-Lautrec, she is an aerialiste extraordinaireand star of Colonel Kearney’s circus. She is also part woman, part swan. Jack Walser, an American journalist, is on a quest to discover the truth behind her identity. Dazzled by his love for her, and desperate for the scoop of a lifetime, Walser has no choice but to join the circus on its magical tour through turn-of-the-nineteenth-century London, St Petersburg and Siberia.

It sounds suitably weird, which may or may not be a good thing! I did really enjoy The Magic Toyshop when I read it earlier this year so fingers crossed I’m a fan of this one too.

Then…when you reach me

I’ve recently finished two books – the first was Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates which I really enjoyed – up to a point…. You can see my review here. Yesterday I read When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead, a young adult novel which I thoroughly enjoyed – review to come soon!

Next…

girl on the trainI’m a member of two book groups, and I haven’t read either of the books I need to for the dates later this month! So I will br cracking on with these. They are The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins, which I am really looking forward to, although sometimes I think I’m too cynical for thriller-style books! In complete contrast I’ll also be reading Mapp and Lucia by E F Benson which was written in 1931. So two pretty different books, both of which I’m looking forward to.

What are you reading now, then and next?
