Here is what I am reading now, then and next!
Now…
I have just started reading The Pink Hotel by Anna Stothart which I picked up purely on a whim from the library. Here’s the blurb…
A seventeen-year-old London girl flies to Los Angeles for the funeral of her mother Lily, from whom she had been separated in her childhood. After stealing a suitcase of letters, clothes and photographs from her mum’s bedroom at the top of a hotel on Venice Beach, the girl spends her summer travelling around Los Angeles returning love letters and photographs to the men who had known her mother. As she discovers more about Lily’s past and tries to re-enact her life, she comes to question the foundations of her own personality…
I’m really enjoying the LA setting of the book, and finding out more about Lily just as her daughter does. So – so far, so good!
Then…
I’ve recently finished two books – the first was Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth which I have reviewed here. I really enjoyed this book, and I also loved The Talented Mr Ripley by Patricia Highsmith which I finished earlier this week – review to come soon!
Next…
I have two book club dates approaching in the coming weeks, so I do need to crack on with those choices, which are Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel and The Girl In The Red Coat by Kate Hamer. I have to admit I’m not feeling too excited about either choice, but I hope to be surprised!
You’ve read The Talented Mr Ripley! That has been on my list for ages because I love the film. I look forward to reading what you thought about it later this week.
Thanks for visiting my WWW and happy reading! 🙂

Thanks Claire. I don’t remember the film well but I think it is quite different. You must read it!

What is it with books starting off with someone dying lately? Anyways, The Pink Hotel has a cute cover. Happy reading!

There seem to be a lot of dead parents in books I read too. Not good!

I simply adore the cover of The Pink Hotel and the contents sound intriguing too – I do love books that have old letters, diaries etc. I enjoyed Mr Ripley so I’ll look out for your review of that one too. I’m over 100 pages in now and still enjoying it but wondering if it can keep up the momentum – we shall see!

Station Eleven is a great read; I didn’t think I’d enjoy it either as it’s totally out of my comfort zone but I loved it 🙂
